How Engaged Is Your List?

In the last post, we talked about doing a basic clean-up of your list.  Today, I’d like to take this a step further to review your list engagement. How engaged is your list?

First, let’s make sure we have the same understanding of what I mean by engaged—an engaged email subscriber is one who is actively opening your emails and clicking the links in your emails.

To review how engaged your list is, you can run an email status report to search how many people have opened or clicked an email in the last 120 days.  These people you’ll want to tag as “engaged”.  Anyone not having this engaged tag can be put through a re-engagement campaign.

What’s a re-engagement campaign you ask?

Infusionsoft has a pre-built campaign in their Marketplace called Clean Your List you can use for this or you can create a custom one for you where you’ll send a series of emails with content for your readers to engage with. When someone clicks a link to read an article, download a PDF or watch a video, they get tagged for engagement and removed from this email series. Anyone who does not re-engage with these emails will get a “did not re-engage” tag and again, we can delete them.

And trust me, I know how hard it is to delete from your list.  Just do it and move on.  It’s better for your business in the long run.  Remember a clean list improves deliverability and email reputation as I mentioned before.  And those that are left on your list are active and engaged with you and want you to keep them informed of your products, sales, blogs, etc.
