How to Use the Link Click Goal in Your Campaign

A Link Click Goal can be used to gauge interest, engagement and also as a transition goal to trigger the start of a new campaign sequence.

Recently I was asked by a client what a link click goal is. I decided to write this post for Infusionsoft users who might not fully understand how to set up a link click goal but to also explain when you might want to use it.

So first what is it?  A link click goal is a goal used inside a campaign to track clicks to a specific link. Yes, it’s that simple. This goal can be used to gauge interest, engagement and also as a transition goal to trigger the start of a new campaign sequence.

Here are two clear examples of when you might consider using a link click goal. In one case, you might have an email series that is delivered over a period of time but you want to give your reader the option of getting all the info now in one single email. You would have a link in your series of emails with this option, clicking that link would move them into a second sequence with that complete delivery.

A second example – you have a video series where once a user clicks on video 1 to watch they can automatically be moved into the second video 2 sequence but you also want users who don’t watch video 1 to get a reminder to watch and eventually move into video 2 sequence.

Now, for those wondering, here’s how you would set this up.

Step 1: Drag your sequence & goal onto your campaign canvas.

Step 2: Customize the emails in your sequence + mark it ready.

Step 3: Name your link click goal

Step 4: Double click the goal to set it up.

Step 5: On the left you will see your list of emails in the sequence. Click each email to view and select the link in each that meets your goal.

*Remember to choose carefully as not every link will meet your goal.

Step 6: Publish.
